WhoWE ARE

At the core of Food Forever is a partnership among like-minded individuals and organizations who have come together to raise awareness for the importance of achieving Target 2.5 of the Sustainable Development Goals. We want everyone to know the importance of agricultural biodiversity and what concrete actions can be taken to protect and use to make our food systems more resilient.

There are ‘Champions’ and ‘Partner Organizations’ in this partnership. The Crop Trust and the Government of the Netherlands are providing the necessary secretariat functions to Food Forever as well as operational support.

The Food Forever Initiative is Chaired by Her Excellency Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, President of the Republic of Mauritius.

Champions

Champions are notable individuals from government, senior executives from the private sector, civil society leaders and other prominent figures with an interest to effectively advocate for the cause. Champions support the conservation and use of agricultural biodiversity in their daily lives, leading by example and inspiring others.

Champions will meet annually from 2017 to 2020 (the duration of Target 2.5) to coordinate their activities, deliberate and identify opportunities for Food Forever to make a difference.

Partners

Many organizations have mandates linked to biodiversity and food security. All are invited to be partners. Food Forever aims to provide a platform for the many different Partner Organizations to share ideas and develop common approaches to address the full scope of SDG Target 2.5.

The diversity of expertise represented by its Partner Organizations allows Food Forever to make a broad range of proposals for effective advocacy and action. The roster of Partner Organizations remains open throughout the initiative’s duration and will grow with Food Forever.

Secretariat

Together, the Global Crop Diversity Trust (Crop Trust) and the Netherlands Government provide the initiative’s secretariat functions and operation support. Financial support for secretariat functions is also provided by the Governments of Germany and Norway.
