Food Forever Side Event at Governing Body Session of the International Treaty

1 November 2017 – Kigali, Rwanda

November started off in Kigali at the Seventh Session of the Governing Body of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (Plant Treaty). The Plant Treaty establishes the multilateral system of access and benefit sharing for plant genetic resources across the globe, and is thus a key component for implementation of SDG Target 2.5. Food Forever welcomed guests at this Governing Body session to a side event on the role of the genetic resource community in achieving this important goal.

We owe many thanks to Champion Alejandro Argumedo, David Ellis of the International Potato Center, Luigi Guarino of the Crop Trust and Kim van Seeters of the Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs for a thought-provoking panel discussion. Her Excellency Frederique de Man, Ambassador of the Government of the Netherlands to Rwanda, provided the opening remarks.
